A Note From the President {May 31, 2016}

We Jaycees are pretty great at having a good time, as evidenced by the photo above from last weekend’s 5th Annual Dogtown Pub Crawl. Or perhaps by the fact that this coming Sunday we’ll be consuming giant turkey legs in mass quantities while riding one potentially-unstable rollercoaster after another at Six Flags Magic Mountain. If you’re still not convinced, join us for our monthly Networking Mixer on June 28th (we’ll get you the location soon, promise) and we’ll show you in person.

Of course it’s not all fun and games around here, we also find time to squeeze in some “adulting” throughout the month. Case in point, tomorrow night at our June Membership Meeting we’ll be working on our communication and leadership skills with a Toastmasters workshop run by our very own VP of Community, Josh Koenig. A couple of weeks later on June 18th we’ll be putting on our famous Huck Finn Day at Douglas Park for hundreds of Santa Monica families to enjoy. To close out the month we’ll invite Shane Phillips of Better Institutions and LA Streetcar to our Civic Engagement Meeting to talk about housing in the city on June 21st at Solidarity Restaurant.

Life is all about balance, and the Jaycees seem to have it down.

Baily Hancock
